Archina wins 2016 global excellence awards: best hotel architect
Since 1992 the founder of the company, Ivo Nahalka and his team have been creating visually glorious projects all over the world . Their portfolio contains more than 30 completed Hotel projects in Czech and Slovak Republics , Hungary , Ukraine , Croatia and Saudi Arabia Their new website beautifully reveals both completed designs and their design philosophy.
Resort hotel and commercial center
Archina Design studio has been appointed to create the architectural, construction and interior design of the reconstruction and extension of the original Hotel complex, 5 km from Prague located near to the Highway. The complex consists of two buildings, high rise for the Hotel section and low rise for commercial use. The Hotel section was originally designed in a circular shape with an open yard, which Archina proposed to cover with a glass dome, creating a multi-functional some 1,000 sqm in size. Archina also located the Spa and swimming pool in the extension, with this area taking up a further 1,000 sqm. The commercial part of the building has beeen extended, with a tunnel connecting the top-floor Sky bar to the Hotel building. This part of the complex is home to an independent restaurant with plans for an extension to include a new shopping centre. The whole development will upgrade the area, integrating existing buildings into the multifunctional complex, situated on the busy highway to Germany. As well as being responsible for the Hotel’s new buildings, Archina was also responsible for the interior design of the hotel and public spaces.
B&B Hotel hits the high note
Finally after four years the hotel market in Prague, welcomed a new international hotel, B&B Hotel is located in the heart of the city centre next to the International Office Centre, IBC. Archina has been appointed by the French development company, VCES Development to create the architectural and construction design for their new 160 room B&B Hotel. The area of land selected for the project was very limited by shape and height as it belongs to a historical part of the city. The architectural style of the building has been inspired by the history of the city, focusing on the corner part, which is very common with historical buildings.
The combination of straight and round forms and shapes of the corner have created a very simple and contemporary dominant accent of the building, to which is located at the main entrance to the hotel. The connecting buildings are situated two levels back from the main street facades having also incorporated colour and material to add more dynamic into the buildings volume. The project of B&B hotel is the third project, which Archina and his author Ivo Nahálka have designed in the same district of Prague, one of them“Palác Karlín“ together with Arch. Ricardo Bofill. B&B Hotel is the 30th completed hotel designed by Ivo Nahálka and his excellent team at Archina, for 15 of them Ivo Nahálka and Libuše Nahálková created both architecture and interior design.
Holiday Inn Express in Galeria Victoria
The construction of the Holiday Inn Express in the Galeria Victoria complex has just been completed. On June 8, 2012, the kick-off day of the Euro 2012 football championships, the first guests will arrive at the hotel located next to Galeria Victoria.
The building’s gross floor area is 5,400 m² and 130 rooms have been prepared for Walbrzych visitors. The developer of the hotel is Keen Property Partners, while the operator is Holiday Inn Express, a brand which belongs to the world’s biggest international hotel chain InterContinental Hotels Group. The hotel, along with the shopping center and the adjacent retail park, forms one modern retail, entertainment and business complex. The Holiday Inn Express in Walbrzych was designed by the architectural studio ARCHINA Ltd. based in Prague, Czech Republic, and ‘Agencja Fregata’ Sp. z o.o. was the general contractor. Construction, which has just been successfully completed, began in September 2011. The value of the investment totals approximately €6 million. “On June 8 the first guests will arrive at the new Holiday Inn Express hotel in Walbrzych.
It will be a very important day not only for us, but for entire Poland as it is precisely when the 2012 European Football Championships start. “I am happy that we have created a modern, multifunctional retail and service complex, whose offer has been expanded further due to the presence of a hotel. I am convinced that thanks to a wide range of services offered in the Galeria Victoria complex, we will be able to meet the needs of the local community in a comprehensive way,” said Maria Prokop, Marketing Director, Keen Property Partners Retail. Holiday Inn Express directs its offer both at individual and business clients. The new, five-floor hotel in Walbrzych has a total of 130 rooms for its guests. Approximately half of the rooms will be interconnected to accommodate whole families. The hotel will offer its guests a breakfast room, lobby bar and conference room with movable partitioning wall, which can host events of up to 90 people.
Thanks to the wall two independent conferences can be held simultaneously. One of the hotel’s advantages is the proximity of Galeria Victoria, where various amenities await guests, including restaurants, a cinema, shops of Polish and international brands, as well as a children’s playground. “We are happy that we have managed to launch the hotel in Walbrzych so quickly and smoothly.
